Race #4 Information

With the heat continuing to blaze this summer, why not come out and cool off
at the Wed Night Nineteen Open Water Swim Series produced by Personal Best &
C3.  Come see if Sean looks different as a "newly married man".
Congratulations to Sean on his third place pro finish on Sunday in Muskoka
and to Hans Porten our other swim expert who blazed the way to a victory in
the men's 55 category (beating those many years younger).

As usual the format will remain the same.

A) Gates Open by 5pm
B) Check into see Krystal at the Registration Table
C) Warmup and or take advantage of Sean/Hans swim lessons at 5:45-6:15pm
D) If you are doing the Ironman 3.8km swim, we suggest you try to
start at 6pm so you have enough time to swim and socialize after.
E) The 1 & 2 loop swims start at 630pm sharp
F) After swimming, make sure you come and write your time down on the
white board (so we can update it).

OTHER NOTES:

* You may or may  not know we have a 800m (half mile) track built up on the
top of the grassy hill. Some of you are coming early to run, OR, coming out
of the water and running some laps.  Take advantage of the great soft track.

* Do check to see if you have a draw prize beside your name before you
leave.

* If you would like to get Barrie's London Olympic Newsletters and DID NOT
GET a note from him about this in the last 2-3 days, then please send him a
note and he will add you to his private London Newsletter List.

* If you would like Barrie's tweets from London Olympics, you can get them
by going to @barrieshepley

First of the Official Swim Series Races!

With the three free demo nights now completed, the series officially kicks off this Wed July 4th.  We do hope now that there is a token cost, you will still see the value of participating and bring out some friends with you as well.  The program will go every single Wed night (rain or shine) until the end of August.  To be eligible for the major series prizes, you simply have to just have participated in FIVE Wednesday nights over the summer.  Instead of just rewarding the fastest person (who we can generally all identify after just one or two weeks), we wanted to give everyone the same chance of winning Nineteen Wetsuits, Goggles,  SPINCORE training equipment, and much more.

NEXT STEPS:

1.  Register.  If you have not yet gone on the PB website and
registered we would ask you to do so.  The goal (where/if possible)
is to have people pre-registered so that there is a minimal
amount of admin work at the swim quarry.  You can register
for 1,2,3, 4 weeks OR the 5 Week (full summer option).  You will
notice that the Full summer option is the equivalent of 5 weeks.
Meaning that you basically get half the summer free if you
sign up for the summer option.  We realize that people have
vacations and miss a week here and there.  If you are not
computer savvy you can pay at the race site.

2.  When you arrive we will have a master list up on a white
board. Regardless of your status (pre-paid or paying on
the day), we need you to check in, and check off your name
(so we know your there).  Then after the swim is over
we need you to come and place your time in the chart
AND place a check in the exit (box), so we know your
officially out of the water (this is a safety
    double check).

3.  For the July 4th evening we will just have the 1 and
2 loop swims (which is 1150m or 2300m).  Starting
July 11th we will add in the 1150m, 2300m and
    3850m (Ironman swim) options.

4.  Timing.  Gates will be open at 5pm. Please park
on the grassy hill so that we don't have vehicles
    down near the beach area.

Once you have checked in (and or paid), you
can warmup at any point on your own.  Sean will
officially start running swim lessons from 5:45
to 6:15pm for the rest of the summer (not 6pm)
and the OFFICIAL swim races will begin at
6:30pm.  You are welcome to join in the free
swim lessons with Sean Bechtel OR do your
own warmup.  The goal, is to get everyone
to start swimming at 6:30pm in one wave.

5.  You will be given a draw ticket each week
for a series of draw prizes.  The goal is
to give everyone a chance to go home with
some fun/prizes (not just the fastest swimmers).
The tickets will be drawn while you are in
the water (so check the white board when you
get out).  That way you can leave with a prize
before the last swimmer is out of the water.

6.  Our intention is to be out of the water
by 8pm.  Anyone who may need more time to
swim should come and start earlier so
that they can cover the distance, they
need and be done by 8pm when the lifeguard
    is finished.

7.  NINETEEN DEMO SUITS:  We have 11 nineteen
Demo Wetsuits in the PB Trailer that you
can borrow and try out over the summer.
Obviously the goal is for you to test them
and then stop into one of the Nineteen
Stores and make a purchase.  Great stores
like Running Free carry Nineteen Wetsuits.

8.  Within 24 hours after each Wednesday night
swim, the summer race results will be updated.

9.  C3 has now developed a great 800m running
track up top of the grassy field that runs
North-South beside the quarry.  If your a
runner/triathlete, why not get out of the
water, write your swim time on the white
board and then go and get a 2,3 or 5km
fun run in on the flat soft run track
    next to the quarry.

10. Our goal is to keep the 2012 Nineteen
Open Water Mid-Week Series Fun &
Valuable to your fitness & training goals.
We are trying to keep the rules, and admin
things to a minimum.  BUT, we need your
help to do so.  The optimal ways are

    a) Pre-register if you can (Saves us time)
    b) Make sure you check in when you arrive
so we know your on the property
    c) Mark your times into the white-board when
your complete and check exit (so we know
your back out of the water).
    d)  Check the white board to see if you have
won any draw prizes from that evening.
    e)  Consider bringing a few friends out to
let them experience the Social/Fun Swim Series.

11. Starting Wednesday night, the first time you check
into the series, you will get a beautiful
NINETEEN SWIM CAP.  We ask you to bring them with
you each week so we can visually see you in the swim.

12. Hope to see you this Wed night or sometime very soon.
